Taking Family to the next level

Here at Greenshields JCB, we love hearing about our customers especially when it involves their own JCB family. And we feel Hague Construction take ‘Family’ to the next level!
Always keen to continue the strong family connection within the business, company founder Paul Hague first had the idea of naming their JCB machines.

When any new JCB’s are on order, people throughout the company are invited to put names forward. There is an upper age limit for the child whose name is submitted, but everyone is invited to get involved regardless of position or role within the Hague group. The names are then drawn from a hat and applied to the machines.

Paul liked the personal touch it added to the machines out on site, and hoped it would promote a more caring attitude towards the machinery. An additional benefit for Hague is if they receive a call from site regarding a machine, the only detail needed is the name. From this they know what machine it is including the serial number, speeding up the whole identification process.
Danielle Hague, Paul’s daughter, has carried on the tradition following the passing of her father, “We still have a day where the new machines are put on display prior to going out on their first job. The children whose names are on the machines get to have a look over the new equipment, have a few photos and go away with a goodie bag too.”
