3D Printing company installs JCB generator to keep up with growing demand

The UK’s leading Multi Jet Fusion Industrial 3D printing company, Printing Portal Ltd, has installed a JCB Generator to support their facility in Kent. The new generator will satisfy the growing demand for onsite power and protect against power outages.

Earlier this year, Printing Portal faced a diminishing power supply; as their business had grown, so had the need for more equipment. Managing Director of Printing Portal, James Hawkins, got in touch with the National Grid – only to find out they would have to wait a substantial time for additional power to be available for the site. Not content with waiting and with customer demand increasing, James immediately investigated other options to ensure his business could continue to operate at total capacity.

The new generator – a 110kVA – has been installed onsite in Dartford and will initially offer the busy printing facility extra power. Printing Portal will later switch the generator to a backup power source once the Grid can support the business’s total power requirements.

Printing Portal is a local business to Greenshields JCB and is keen to support local companies. James discovered that JCB sold a wide range of generators and got in touch with Generator Specialist Luke Wood. The quick turnaround of the generator combined with the ease of setting up JCB financing were key factors in the generator purchase:

“We’ve been contemplating the idea for over a year, but as the need grew, it became more critical that we got something installed quickly. Once we decided we needed a generator, we contacted Greenshields JCB, who is our local JCB dealership – they’re literally just down the road. Luke helped us to size and specify the generator we needed, and he also connected us with JCB Finance to support our purchase. JCB Finance was great to work with; it was quick and easy to identify the perfect financing option. All In all, from the time contacting Greenshields to the generator arriving on site, it was very straightforward.”
